Animal R and R

Java sporting her new fly mask (which I still think looks stupid, but it works) and her new fly sheet. The flys are not bad, but I figure the less they have to worry about and swish their tails for, the happier they are. These pictures were taken yesterday afternoon. The dogs were not going anywhere, the just like hanging out in the back of the car. Mackie clearly is not interested in getting out. Bandy is just playing along. Danny was up top and Maggie was mowing the lower paddock. These guys are spending a lot of time outside and are loving it. Me too.

Oh, and we got more hay yesterday. Loft loaded again, and my hay guys loaded the loft for me, again. They are awesome! And, Java really likes the new hay. Danny and Maggie eat anything and don't care as long as they are eating something.

Those fly sheets are wonderful, particularly for the more sensitive horses. We don't have too many flies yet, but I'm just waiting for the mosquitos, which are going to be extra bad due to all the rain we've been having.

Do have you heard about the brookside masks? My friend and I were looking online for a mask for her mustang, Tribal. They look nice, but we don't know how good they work or stay on! P.S.-I love your blog!

Nothing is better than a loft full of hay that someone else stacked!!

I have not heard of brookside masks. As far as a mask staying on... any horse that does not want to wear one, will probably find a way to take it off. The absorbine masks have two velcro closures though and look hard to get off, but the ears were a little small for Java. I just googled Brookside masks and it and the area around the nose looks too lose, and the ear material looks stiff. I would check out what smartpak has and get the free shipping code off of Chronicle of the Horse forums. let me know what you get and how it works out, please.
